Concrete tile restoration costs area times the installed allowance plus confirmed extras and tax; the default example is about A$9,400.
Restoration keeps the existing covering
A restoration package cleans and treats a roof that is suitable to remain in service. It is not the same scope as stripping the covering and installing a new one. Start with roof type and measured slope area. Concrete tile, terracotta and metal require different preparation and compatible products. A coating should not be used to hide structural problems, widespread failed sheets or an unresolved moisture issue.
The base restoration scope is a full package: cleaning, minor repairs, repointing where relevant, primer and two membrane coats. Those services are already in the price and should not be switched on again as additional costs. Full re-bedding, repairs outside the package, extensive rust treatment, access and solar-panel handling are entered only as separately confirmed extra quotes.
Worked example: 200 m² of concrete tile
The net restoration triple is A$35 / A$42.95 / A$50.91 per m². At the middle allowance, 200 × A$42.95 = A$8,590. GST adds A$859, making A$9,449, displayed as approximately A$9,400. The rounding precision changes above A$5,000, so the headline rounds to the nearest A$100.
For the same area, the Colorbond replacement comparison shows a typical A$20,416 including GST, rounded to A$20,500. Ordinary old-covering removal belongs to the replacement package, while the restoration keeps the covering. The extra quotes on this page apply to restoration only. This comparison does not calculate how long either treatment will last or a guaranteed saving over its lifetime.

Sources read 1 October 2026: Powerdrive restoration pricing and ABC restoration costs. Their prices differ substantially. The calculator divides the inclusive figures by 1.10 and blends the endpoints to obtain the before-GST range. This is a broad planning sample from two sources, not an official Australian average or a claim that all states have equal prices.
Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney
Use the state selector to locate the job and obtain local quotes. A roof restoration cost in Melbourne or Sydney depends on its condition, access and specified system, not just the city name. Perth's published package is one source observation rather than a universal Western Australian price. Brisbane guide rates contribute to the broader range without becoming a blanket Queensland labour factor.
Ask what counts as a minor repair, whether ridge caps require re-bedding rather than only repointing, and which coating system is suitable for the existing tile or steel. On a metal roof, the extent of corrosion matters more than a cosmetic change of colour. On terracotta, preparation and product compatibility deserve particular attention. Photographs and a site inspection are more useful than choosing every optional service by default.
Should the roof be replaced instead?
Use the Australian roof replacement cost calculator for a full package with ordinary removal. The Colorbond roof replacement cost calculator separates installation from sheet-only supply and provides a simple takeoff. Check the roof angle with the roof pitch calculator and use the gutter slope calculator when drainage repairs are part of the proposed job.
