Ontario standing seam roof costs area times the installed allowance plus confirmed extras and tax; the default example is about CA$51,500.
Standing seam is a roofing system
A metal roof quote includes more than the weight of steel. Standing seams, compatible underlayment, flashings, penetrations and any snow-retention details need to work as one installation. This calculator uses the standing-seam price observations that could be verified. It does not assign guessed corrugated-panel, steel-shingle or gauge premiums from unrelated product prices.
Enter the slope area directly, or use footprint dimensions and pitch to calculate it. The local square-foot and square-metre switch preserves the roof's physical size. Published Canadian rates remain CAD per sq ft. One square contains 100 sq ft, so a large 2,000 sq ft roof represents 20 roofing squares regardless of which display unit is selected.
Worked example: Ontario, 2,000 sq ft
The net installed triple is CA$15.04 / CA$22.77 / CA$30.50 per sq ft for Ontario. The midpoint covering budget is CA$45,540. HST at 13% is CA$5,920.20, producing CA$51,460.20, displayed as approximately CA$51,500. The example adds no separate demolition, trim, snow-retention or gauge-upgrade quote. Published high allowances are not a ceiling on an unusually complex job.

| RenoAssistance | CA$20–36 | Demolition and crane costs extra |
Read 1 October 2026: HomeStars steel roof prices and RenoAssistance roof prices. RenoAssistance calls the system tôle à baguette. The guides do not state a consistent tax basis; the calculator accommodates inclusive and exclusive readings in its before-tax range, blends the endpoints and adds the selected province's invoice tax. Enter a confirmed net installer rate when the system is specified.
Tin roof cost calculator: ask what metal is supplied
Tin roof is often used casually as a name for metal roofing. It is not a priced material specification here. Ask whether the actual panels are coated steel, aluminium or another product, and confirm the profile, base-metal thickness, finish and fastening method. A profile-specific material list also needs its manufacturer's cover width and fixing schedule. This page does not fabricate panel, trim or screw counts from a generic area rate.
An installer-approved roof-over system can remove the additional tear-off quote from the budget. It does not establish that an overlay is suitable for your roof or permitted by the applicable local code. Existing shingle layers, damaged decking, trapped moisture and system instructions still need assessment. Confirm whether the selected installed quote already includes underlayment, perimeter trims or ventilation before entering them again as extras.
Ontario and other provincial taxes
Ontario is called out through the province selector and its 13% HST line, without an unsupported provincial labour discount. The ordinary taxable supply-and-install contract uses the local GST/HST/PST treatment. BC and Manitoba input taxes stay embedded in the contractor's net price; Quebec's combined GST/QST and Saskatchewan's construction PST follow their provincial rules. A retail sheet purchase has a different scope from this installed-roof estimate.
Snow guards, snow loads and eave protection should be reviewed for the property rather than treated as cosmetic accessories. Get a supplier takeoff and the installer's written scope before turning a planning allowance into an order or a contract budget.
